GIF files come in two types: static ones that behave like any regular image, and animated ones that loop through multiple frames. This tool works with both. Upload your GIF, drag to mark the area you want to keep, and download the result. All processing happens inside your browser — your file never touches any server.
There are many reasons to crop a GIF. You might be removing whitespace around a sticker, cutting a reaction GIF down to just the relevant part, trimming a static GIF graphic for a specific layout, or extracting a clean still from an animation. Whatever the case, the process takes under 30 seconds with no software to install.
The tool supports freehand crop selection, all standard preset aspect ratios, and exact pixel dimensions via the custom size inputs. You can also rotate and flip before cropping. Output options include PNG (best quality, supports transparency), JPG (smaller file size), and WebP.
Browser-based tools work with what the HTML5 canvas can render, which is the first rendered frame of the GIF. The crop gives you a clean still image from that frame in your chosen output format. If you need to crop all frames while keeping the animation running, that requires server-side processing — which this tool intentionally avoids to keep your files private.
If your GIF has a transparent background, save as PNG to keep the transparency intact. If it is a full-colour image without transparency and you want the smallest file size, JPG works well. WebP is a strong middle ground — it supports transparency and typically produces smaller files than PNG. The choice depends on where you plan to use the cropped image.
